Busting the Myth 

With our experience in testing waxes and sealants, we have tried just about every one of the types of sealants or waxes that promotes these long protection times as there sales pitch. Most often these products promote the fact they use Teflon, or are Teflon based, or somehow Teflon is responsible for the long protection times. The bottom line with these types of products is that they simply don't do what they are advertised to do in regards to the long protection times. There isn't an easily obtained sealant or wax in the marketplace that will provide more then a year of protection. So in our opinion any product using Teflon as part of its description is a pure marketing gimmick, a sales ploy, and a pitch tactic. Again, there is no commercially available wax or sealant that has Teflon associated with it that provides years of protection for your paint. Period. There is no Teflon product that will stop scratching, swirling, marring, etc of your paint. Period.

Often these Teflon paint wax or sealants are advertised offering multi-year protection, lifetime protection, or protection for life.  The pitch is that you spend this extra amount of money on this Teflon wax or sealant and and you get extra protection. Yet again, there isn't an easily obtained sealant or wax out there that will provide more then a year of protection. If buy into one of these up-sell then your just wasting your money.

The way to get multiple years of protection for your paint is to have the paint regularly washed/maintained and have new applications of wax or sealant applied to your paint. The only way to protect your paint from scratching, swirling, marring, etc is to be sure the washing/maintenance routine has the correct procedures performed on your vehicle to minimize those issues. Following a  regular schedule on the washing and maintenance routine will stop containments from embedding into the paint.

So now that you know that any service/product marketed with a Teflon or multi-Year is actually a pitch, you may want to know what A Final Touch Detailing offers in multi-year wax/sealant services. If there isn't a product that offers multi-year protection then we can't sell it. So, we don’t have a multi-year wax or sealant program, it would be a waste of money for our clients, and again it’s a gimmick.

What we do offer is a regular washing/maintenance program where we regularly visit your vehicle and perform the washing/maintenance with the correct procedures and products that keep the scratching, swirling, marring, etc to a minimum. To keep the actual protection of the wax or sealant you have chosen, at set intervals, such as three months or six months, depending on what product we are using, we would then apply a new layer of the wax or sealant. If you want to obtain years worth of protection for your paint, it’s not any more complicated then that.
